Things I learned from sport
In random order, I guess. Mainly useful for myself, I guess. Might be stated in an overly dramatic way.
- squat
- looks is nothing, good form is everything
- voluntarily put yourself in a difficult situation
- let's not go to failure - feel what you're sure you can still do
- deadlift
- your head will likely not explode
- some barriers are imaginary; show yourself you can do it by doing heavy singles
- plank,
- last seconds seem to last soooo long, but 1 second after finishing feels normal again
- climbing
- don't get too comfortable - security is important
- stay calm when in a difficult situation, minimise effort
- thinking on the ground hardly costs effort - thinking on the wall does
- chin-ups
- learn by "greasing the groove": do a few, not to failure, in between sets
- boxing
- fatigue makes good intentions go to shit
- just come back next time even though you may dread it
- misc
- on the minute, every minute: do difficult things when they are due, not when you're ready
- finish all reps in a set even if you have to rest a bit - there's no easy way out; commit to your set
